LOS ANGELES— Barbara May, whose case drew national attention after her detention by ICE agents at what was supposed to be a routine green-card interview, has been released.
On Friday, Nick Valencia News confirmed Barbara’s release with her husband, Tucker May.
In a post on social media, he wrote, “I’m beyond thrilled to say that BARBARA IS BACK HOME!”
He went on to thank supporters for “the kind words…and phone call campaigns to help make sure we got the due process that everyone deserves under the law.” Tucker declined to comment further, citing the couple’s need for privacy as they recover from what he described as a “nightmarish ordeal.”
The arrest took place on September 16, when Tucker said agents at a Los Angeles federal building lured her away from her attorney under false pretenses and took her into custody.
She was held at the Adelanto detention facility before being transferred to an undisclosed location, a move that left her husband, Tucker, in anguish and unsure of her whereabouts for days.
Her story became emblematic of what critics have called a growing pattern of entrapment and obstruction within the immigration system.
This story is developing.
This should never ever happen not in North America for sure. I can’t even fathom in this day and age being scared that I may not be going home at the end of the day. I pray that those in the senate and congress grow a pair of ovaries and dismantle this joke of an administration. Keep reporting Nick, ❤️🇨🇦
Go Jays Go! 😉
So happy for this couple. Hopefully they can stay together . This is some good news. I continue to pray for all other families ripped apart and horribly treated.
