ATLANTA— The home of Georgia’s Secretary of State spokesman was shot at least 20 times overnight by a gunman who attempted to flee, before he was detained by a neighbor until being arrested by police.
A high-level source with the Atlanta Police Department tells Nick Valencia News, they’ve made officials at the Department of Homeland Security aware of the incident.
Video and images of the shooting were posted to the social media of Madeline Montgomery, a local CBS News reporter at around 2amET. Montgomery is the fiancé of Robert Sinners, a household name in Georgia political circles with a controversial past. The couple share the home together that was shot. They were home at the time of the shooting, but unharmed.
Montgomery told NVN the couple decided “to go to bed early for no reason and ended up out of the way of bullets in our couch.”
“They shot my whole house!”
Montgomery added that police who initially responded told them they believed people were shooting at each other.
Montgomery and Sinners home is in a dead end street. Their home was the only one hit. The suspect detained has not been identified by police, but according to neighbors he did not live in the area.
Now a spokesman for Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, Sinners was previously part of the so-called “fake electors” scheme in Georgia in 2020. The act was a central part of state charges against then former President Donald Trump and his allies to steal the 2020 Georgia election.
A former Trump loyalist, Sinners made a public amends for his role as a fake elector. He was never charged.
In a 2023 interview with the AP, Sinners denied the notion that Trump won Georgia.
Sinners cooperated with the U.S. House committee that investigated the violent insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021. He hasn’t said whether he’s cooperating with Willis.
“This was an ill-advised attempt by the former president’s campaign to create a false reality — a victory,” Sinners said.
